Production Manager

Development & Community Outreach Associate

   

 
 
 

Constellation Theatre Company seeks a full-time Production Manager to oversee scheduling, budgeting, contracting and the execution of all aspects of physical production, including scenery, lights, costumes, props, paint, sound, and projections for all productions, workshops, readings and events.

Key Responsibilities

Planning

  • In collaboration with Executive leadership, program, budget and schedule the season;

Scheduling

  • Serve as c ommunication hub for all production activities;
  • Create and maintain production schedules;
  • Shepherd the design process from hiring through opening night;

Budgeting

  • Manage, monitor, and approve all production-related expenses;
  • Realize designs on time and on budget;
  • Perform administration of payroll and production-related financial activity;

Hiring

  • Contract designers, performers and technicians;
  • Coordinate all production, staffing and scheduling needs;

Supervising

  • Lead all production and design meetings;
  • Oversee load-in for all departments;
  • Attend all design runs, technical rehearsals, previews and opening;
  • Supervise Technical Director
  • Oversee scene shop and theatre facilities;

Other

  • Actively represent Constellation and interact with constituents during special events and gatherings;
  • Attend Staff and Executive staff meetings;


Qualifications
Candidates for this position will possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience as a Production Manager;
  • Thorough knowledge of all areas of theatrical production;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and work within approved budget;
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, CAD programs, Word, Powerpoint
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gather/analyze information skillfully;
  • Ability to work well in group problem-solving situations;
  • Ability to work under pressure on many projects and work with people of varying experience levels;
  • Strong communication , diplomatic and leadership skills;
  • Willingness to be flexible, collaborative, highly motivated, organized and responsible.

Compensation
Hours are full-time with evening and weekend duties as required. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and competitive with similar non-profit arts organizations.

Constellation Theatre Company seeks a full-time Development and Community Outreach Associate to expand our support base, engage donors with our programs and services, manage public relations, and lead community outreach activities. This position will include an emphasis on identifying, cultivating, and soliciting prospects; broadening marketing and communications efforts; and engaging with and supporting CTC’s Board of Directors.

Key Development Responsibilities

  • Execute Constellation Theatre Company’s annual fundraising plan in collaboration with Executive leadership.
  • Secure financial support from individuals and corporations.
  • Develop, cultivate, solicit, and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors in order to grow our donor base and secure major gifts.
  • Manage special events and other activities related to building strong donor relationships and enhancing donor engagement with the organization.
  • Coordinate donor communications including multiple direct mail/email appeals.
  • Regularly report progress to Executive Leadership, board and staff.
  • Other duties associated with corporate giving and in-kind donations as assigned.
  • Maintain donor database and track cultivation progress.

Key Community Outreach Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement activities to strengthen the Constellation brand and build awareness of the company both throughout the DC Metro area and in the 14th U Street neighborhood in particular.
  • Develop mutually beneficial partnerships with other organizations throughout DC.
  • Engage communities beyond Constellation’s existing patron base.
  • Promote Constellation events and activities and interact directly with patrons.

Qualifications
Candidates for this position will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven success in development, with demonstrated experience in face-to-face major gift solicitation.
  • Experience developing and maintaining productive working relationships with donors, board members, staff, and volunteers.
  • A background in theatre or experience working with a performing arts organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to effectively convey CTC’s story, and collaborate with Executive Leadership, staff and board in solicitations.
  • Analytical skills and the ability to offer creative solutions
  • The ability to properly prepare for and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to be flexible, imaginative, highly motivated, organized and responsible.
  • Fundamental computer skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel.
Hours are full-time mostly during business hours, with some events and performances in the evenings and on weekends. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and competitive with similar non-profit arts organizations.
