Development Manager

Celebrating its 15th Anniversary season, Constellation Theatre Company seeks an experienced Development Manager to support the company as we launch into our next chapter. The Development Manager will build upon Constellation’s current fundraising strategy to maintain a portfolio of active donors and cultivate new relationships with prospective donors. Constellation raises $800,000 annually from individuals, corporations and foundations. We are in a period of transformation, growing the staff, expanding the company, and exploring new performance venues.
Key Responsibilities
Individual Giving
-
Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors in order to secure leadership gifts.
-
Organize and implement multi-faceted fundraising campaigns.
-
Research and cultivate donor prospects.
Grants
-
Administer and collaborate on writing grants.
-
Research additional foundation, government and corporate funding opportunities.
Special Events
-
Create and manage special events.
-
Engage with donors at events, performances and other gatherings.
Board
-
Develop and maintain relationships with the Board of Directors.
-
Regularly report progress to Executive Leadership and the Board of Directors.
The successful candidate will be

an experienced professional with a proven track record in development and major gifts solicitation for a non-profit organization;

a person with superior verbal and written communication skills;

excited and enthusiastic about theatre and the performing arts;

able to work both independently and as part of a team;

detail-oriented with strong organizational skills;

a strong manager who is a self-starter and a leader; and

Candidates for this position will possess:

A minimum of 4 years of experience in fundraising;

Analytical skills and the ability to offer creative solutions;

The ability to properly prepare for and meet deadlines;

Experience with CRM systems (PatronManager a plus);
-
Fundamental computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; and
-
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
Compensation
-
Salary begins at $65,000. Negotiable and commensurate with experience.

Benefits include health and dental insurance, 20 vacation days, 13 federal holidays and flexible work schedules.

Hours are full-time mostly during business hours, with some events and performances in the evenings and on weekends.

Production Manager

The Production Manager will lead artists and technicians to produce 3-4 full-scale theatrical productions each season. They will manage all elements of the creative process and oversee daily production operations. Constellation is in a period of transformation: growing the staff, expanding the company, and exploring new performance venues. This person will play a key role in our success.
Key Responsibilities
Planning
-
In collaboration with Executive leadership, program and budget the season;
-
Thoughtfully plan, create and maintain production schedules;
-
Coordinate all production, staffing and scheduling needs;
Budgeting
-
Manage, monitor, and approve all production-related expenses;
-
Realize designs on time and on budget;
-
Perform administration of production payroll and production-related financial activity;
Hiring
-
Identify, interview and hire all crew positions and load-in personnel;
-
Contract designers, performers and technicians;
Supervising
-
Serve as the communication hub for all production activities;
-
Shepherd the design process from hiring through opening night;
-
Lead all production and design meetings;
-
Be in charge of the build process in all departments;
-
Oversee load-in for all departments;
-
Attend all design runs, technical rehearsals, previews and opening;
-
Manage the strike process from planning to execution;
-
Supervise the Technical Director;
-
Oversee Creative Headquarters and theatre facilities;
-
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of artists and production teams;
Other
• Actively represent Constellation and foster relationships with the larger DC community; and
• Participate in Staff activities and training.
Candidates for this position will possess:

A minimum of 3 years professional experience as a Production Manager;
-
Thorough knowledge of all areas of theatrical production;
-
Demonstrated ability to develop and work within approved budget;
-
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in CAD programs and Mircosoft Office Suite;
-
Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gather/analyze information skillfully;
-
Ability to work well in group problem-solving situations;
-
Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects and work with people of varying experience levels;
-
Strong communication, diplomatic and leadership skills;
-
Willingness to be flexible, collaborative, highly motivated, organized and responsible; and
-
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
Compensation

Salary begins at $45,000. Negotiable and commensurate with experience.

Graphic Designer - Theatre Marketing

The Graphic Designer will conceptualize, design, illustrate and implement compelling visual and graphic designs to promote both specific programs and Constellation as an institution. They will work to ensure strategy and messaging is aligned across all communications touchpoints. Constellation is in a period of transformation: growing the staff, expanding the company, and exploring new performance venues. This person will play a key role in our success.
Key Responsibilities

Create institutional and show-specific marketing materials;
-
Uphold a consistent visual brand and company voice across all mediums;
-
Collaborate with the Artistic Director and Managing Director about marketing and PR strategy;
-
Design season brochures, posters, postcards, playbills, ads, and mailing collateral;
-
Improve, maintain and make routine updates to Constellation’s website;
-
Design and implement email campaigns;
-
Generate 4-6 weekly social media posts and foster online engagement;
-
Create and edit original graphics for use across a wide array of company communications;
-
Film and edit in-house promotional videos;
-
Coordinate promotional photoshoots and production photos;
-
Manage and coordinate work with outside art services and printers to meet deadlines of deliverables;
-
Place ads in print and online and negotiate advertising contracts;
