Constellation Theatre Company seeks a full-time seasonal Production Stage Manager (PSM) for our Spring Season: Electric Impulses. The PSM will collaborate with the Artistic Director and Managing Director to coordinate and organize the production from the creative process through rehearsals through tech and filming.

 

In Season 14, we plan to produce four full-scale productions and capture them on film to create an engaging at-home viewing experience. No live audiences will be in attendance.

 

In order to minimize the risk of exposure to our artists and staff, we have modified our schedule.  This season, each show will rehearse remotely or in person in small groups for the first two weeks and then rehearse in person on set at Source during weeks 3 and 4, culminating with the final run being live streamed.

 

Throughout the production process we will be following CDC guidelines. Everyone must wear a mask, social distance, wash hands, etc. All artists will be expected to follow Constellation’s policies and procedures for the safety of the entire group.

 

This full-time seasonal position is currently scheduled from January 4, 2021 – June 20, 2021.

 

Production Duties:

  • Serve as communication hub for all production activities;

  • Coordinate all production, staffing and scheduling needs;

  • Create and maintain production schedules;

  • Run all production meetings.
     

Stage Management Duties:

  • Set up and manage rehearsals;

  • Record all blocking and cues in the production book;

  • Create and maintain accurate cue sheets;

  • Call cues and run light board for all technical and dress rehearsals;

  • Prepare rehearsal and costume fittings schedules;

  • Create and distribute daily rehearsal reports;

  • Perform administration of payroll and production-related financial activity;

  • Facilitate a safe and positive creative environment at all times.

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • Extensive experience as a professional stage manager;

  • Experience calling shows with significant music and dance elements;

  • Thorough knowledge of all areas of theatrical production;

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, CAD programs, Word, Powerpoint;

  • Experience running light board;

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gather/analyze information skillfully;

  • Ability to work well in group problem-solving situations with people of varying experience levels;;

  • Ability to excel under pressure, multitask and prioritize; 

  • Strong communication, diplomatic and leadership skills;

  • Willingness to be flexible, collaborative, highly motivated, organized and responsible.

 

Compensation Package

  • $600 weekly salary

  • Health and dental insurance (January – June 2021)

  • Vacation and sick pay

  • Hours are full-time with evening and weekend duties as required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead load-in and strike process from start of planning through execution;

  • Staff and supervise crew calls for all departments from load-in through strike;

  • Realize designs on time and on budget;

  • Drive rental truck as needed to install technical elements at Source;

  • Manage, monitor, and approve production-related expenses for lighting sound, and video;

  • Acquire all supplies needed to install lighting, sound and video elements;

  • Perform administration of payroll and production-related financial activity;

  • Setup and strike tech tables as needed;

  • Attend all design runs, technical rehearsals, and production meetings;

  • Oversee scene shop and theatre facilities; 
     

Education and Work Experience:

  • Extensive professional experience with sound and lighting;

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Thorough knowledge of all areas of theatrical production;

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and work within approved budget;

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, CAD programs, Word, Powerpoint;

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gather/analyze information skillfully;

  • Ability to work well in group problem-solving situations with people of varying experience levels;

  • Ability to excel under pressure, multitask and prioritize;

  • Strong communication, diplomatic and leadership skills;

  • Willingness to be flexible, collaborative, highly motivated, organized and responsible.
