Production Manager

Constellation Theatre Company seeks a full-time Production Manager to oversee scheduling, budgeting, contracting and the execution of all aspects of physical production, including scenery, lights, costumes, props, paint, sound, and projections for all productions, workshops, readings and events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with Executive leadership, program, budget and schedule the season.

  • Serve as communication hub for all production activities.

  • Create and maintain production schedules.

  • Shepherd the design process from hiring through opening night.

  • Lead the strike process from planning to execution.


Budgeting:

  • Manage, monitor, and approve all production-related expenses.

  • Realize designs on time and on budget.

  • Perform administration of payroll and production-related financial activity.


Supervising

  • Contract designers, performers and technicians.

  • Coordinate all production, staffing and scheduling needs.

  • Lead all production and design meetings.

  • Oversee load-in for all departments.

  • Attend all design runs, technical rehearsals, previews and opening.

  • Supervise Technical Director.

  • Oversee scene shop and theatre facilities; 


Other

  • Actively represent Constellation and interact with constituents during special events and gatherings.

  • Attend Staff and Executive staff meetings.

 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience as a Production Manager.

  • Thorough knowledge of all areas of theatrical production.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and work within approved budget.

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, CAD programs, Word, Powerpoint.

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gather/analyze information skillfully.

  • Ability to work well in group problem-solving situations.

  • Ability to work under pressure on many projects and work with people of varying experience levels.

  • Strong communication, diplomatic and leadership skills.

  • Willingness to be flexible, collaborative, highly motivated, organized and responsible.

Patron Services Manager

Constellation Theatre Company seeks a full-time Patron Services Manager (PSM) to provide exemplary customer service to our patrons before, during and after the show!  Other responsibilities include supervising front of house staff at all performances, managing special events and coordinating volunteers.

 

Box Office Management:

  • Process individual ticket sales, subscriber reservations, exchanges, refunds and group sales.

  • Respond to incoming phone calls and email inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

  • Complete requests from outside organizations for donated ticket vouchers.

  • Recruit, train and staff Front of House contractors.

  • Maintain patron database.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for potential and existing patrons.

 

Event Management:

  • Organize the logistics for all events, including opening nights, donor receptions, and board meetings.

  • Acquire food and other supplies.

  • Provide on-site support for all events; supervise set-up and teardown.

 

Volunteer Coordination:

  • Recruit volunteers for ushers, mailings, and other community events as needed.

  • Provide on-site support for all events involving volunteers.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Constellation’s volunteer list.

 

General Administration:

  • Coordinate mailings for season postcards, direct appeals and brochures.

  • Collect and process incoming mail.

  • Schedule, prepare agenda for, and take notes during weekly staff meeting.

  • Provide administrative assistance as needed.

 

The work schedule follows the performance calendar. When Constellation is in production, the PSM will work nights and weekends. During the off-peak season, office hours are weekdays from 10 am – 6:30 pm.

 

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of customer service experience, preferably in a box office.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word and Excel in particular) and Google Apps.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Exceptional customer service skills.

  • An upbeat, positive attitude and willingness to be a team player.

  • Passion for and familiarity with theatre.

  • Experience with CRM systems; familiarity with PatronManager is ideal.

  • Valid driver’s license.

Director of Development

Constellation Theatre Company seeks an experienced Director of Development to raise $400,000 annually from individuals and corporations The Director of Development will build upon Constellation’s current fundraising strategy to maintain a portfolio of active donors and cultivate new relationships with prospective donors. The Director of Development is a new position at Constellation and will join our current Grants and Communications Manager to successfully fundraise for the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Secure major financial support from individuals.

  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors in order to secure leadership gifts.

  • Research and cultivate donor prospects.

  • Manage special events.

  • Engage with donors at events, performances and other gatherings.

  • Imagine, organize and implement multi-faceted fundraising campaigns.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with the Board of Directors. 

  • Serve as the liaison to the Board’s Governance Committee.

  • Participate in Board recruitment. 

  • Regularly report progress to Executive Leadership and the Board of Directors.

  • Create a corporate giving program.

 

The successful candidate will be:

  • an experienced professional with a proven track record in major gift solicitation and experience working with high level volunteers and philanthropists;

  • able to work both independently and as part of a team;

  • experienced in leading development and major gifts solicitation in an arts organization;

  • a strong manager who is a self-starter and can build a motivated team of volunteers and professionals;

  • a hands-on director with superior verbal and written communication skills; and

  • a creative, energetic individual who is committed to realizing the vision of Constellation Theatre Company.

 

 

Candidates for this position will possess:

  • a minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience in fundraising for the performing arts;

  • a background in theatre or experience working with a performing arts organization;

  • analytical skills and the ability to offer creative solutions; 

  • the ability to properly prepare for and meet deadlines; 

  • fundamental computer skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel; and

  • a Bachelor’s degree or higher.

 

Hours are full-time mostly during business hours, with some events and performances in the evenings and on weekends.
